Abstract

|
The basic data of outbred strain Kte : Sprague-Dawley rats concerning reproductive toxicological variables were established. For this purpose the results of control groups of reproduction studies were used, which had been performed during the last three years in our laboratory.
Control values of the parameters (body weight, food consumption, organ weight, ceasarean section data, incidence of external, internal and skeletal findings, viability index and water filled multiple T-maze test results) are close to the control values obtained in other laboratories of Japan, except that slight differences in the occurrence rate of i4th rib, traction test results and day of emergence of abdominal hair were found. These data can be used not only as a comparative values for the effective evaluation of toxicity data obtained in the reproduction studies, but also as a contribution to a general biological characterization of this swain.
